peacecamp 2008: Making peacemakers.
Arab-Israeli, Jewish-Israeli and youth from Hungary and Austria explore new ways of understanding and conflict-resolution
July 3rd-13th in Reibers, Waldviertel and in Vienna
peacecamp 2008: Making peacemakers adresses youth who are interested in taking active part in shaping their own social and political environment.

Youth from 4 different cultural backgrounds and nations (Hungary, Austria, Israeli Arabs and Israeli Jews) will be invited to Austria for an intensive workshop from July 3rd to 13th, 2008.

Following a preparation within their own educational context, they will bring to peacecamp 2008 a written documentation of their own personal, as well as national history.

On the peacecamp-encounter in Austria, they will be offered various opportunities to deepen their understanding of social and political processes and to reach more awareness of their own attitudes and feelings related to such issues; they will be able to practice modes of discussing conflictual issues, to work out modes of problem- and conflict-resolution and to reach more understanding about the group-dynamic and personal factors which may facilitate - or impede - constructive modes of coping with social or political problems.

The peacecamp-project will be accompanied by an external research-project to assess its impact on parameters of personal development and on some social skills pertinent to young people's ability to deal with social or political matters.
